Both Papua New Guinea and Fiji have honored PM Modi with their country’s highest honour. Fiji has awarded PM Modi the Companion of the Order of Fiji while the host country Papua New Guinea has awarded him its highest honour, The Grand Companion of the Order of Loghu.

PM Modi has reached Papua New Guinea directly from Japan. Today, he attended the 3rd Indo-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) summit there. Co-chairing the summit with Prime Minister James Marape of Papua New Guinea, Prime Minister Modi said that he (James Marape) could see India as a reliable partner.

He had come here to participate in the G-7 summit. He said that cooperation among G-7 and G-20 countries plays an important role in tackling global challenges. He further said that geopolitical tensions have affected the food and energy supply chains. On the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, Modi said, “We strongly support respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity based on the international order.”
